Breeding Section A Welsh Mountain Ponies from Champion UK Stock


The following mares are expecting foals by International Champion *Springbourne Boy Blue in 2009 and will be for sale:

*DukesHill Daria, 2003 WPCSA Res. Champion Filly, sired by Royal Welsh winning DukesHill Magnum and full sister to this year's Champion Stallion at the Lampeter Stallion Show (UK), DukesHill Darcy and 2007 WPCSA Champion Colt, *DukesHill Double Diamond)...foaled a filly named Caris Darci Blue
Carissa, (*Bengad Lynden x *Verdrefawr Caris) a lovely bay mare, out of two Supreme Champions. Last year, her first filly foal, Caris Shades of Blue, surpassed our expectations....perhaps she is the best we have ever bred....foaled a bay filly named Caris Skies of Blue, (aka "Sky")
*Springbourne Crista, a Champion imported mare sired by 9-time winner of the WPCS (UK) sire ratings, *Springbourne Caraway. The blending of these bloodlines has produced many champions in the UK, including 2008 Royal Welsh Champion, Vervale Gabbana.)...foaled a colt named Caris Celtic Blue from Springbourne Crista and is a copy-copy of his grandsire, Springbourne Caraway!
*Verdrefawr Hilda, (aka "Angel" by Verdrefawr Owain x Hollytree Rhonwen) our consistant producer of champion stock...had a stunning colt foal, Caris Marquis Blue. Photo coming soon!
*Verdrefawr Marina, (Verdrefawr King Cole x Verdrefawr Miriam) This young mare is yet unshown, but is the best moving pony we have ever owned, hands down! Combined with the blood of Boy Blue, this should be an amazing foal.

Macenzie Combs and Blazer, 1997 Welcome to the site of Bandy's Welsh Mountain Ponies, home of the "Caris" prefix. Dick and Helen Bandy's experience in breeding and showing Morgans and Welsh Ponies, spans nearly thirty-five years. The Bandy's Welsh Mountain Pony farm is located in sunny Central Oregon, just twenty minutes north of Bend. Visitors are welcome, but please call ahead.

Cochran). *Springbourne Boy Blue has sired many champion hunter ponies, including winners at Devon and the 2007 USEF Green Hunter Pony Champion, What-A-Bean.

"We fell in love with *Springbourne Boy Blue's outstanding progeny through the many Section A winners we have seen at the Royal Welsh Show over the years. Many times we had marked our catalogue with our favorite Mountain Pony winners and saw that they were sired by Springbourne Caraway and out of daughters of *Springbourne Boy Blue. (Springbourne Elly, Mynyddtarren Habanera, Vervale Gabbana, to just name a few). Wishing to cross those same bloodlines, in 2003 we imported the lovely *Springbourne Crista, a Caraway daughter.

Leasing Boy Blue for the past two years as completed our goal of duplicating that "golden cross". Crista and Blue have given us one lovely filly, Caris Crystal Blue (aka "Salsa") and another foal is due in 2009.

We also are pleased beyond words with our 2008 filly by Blue, Caris Shades of Blue (aka "Taco"). A liver chestnut, Taco is the image of her maternal grand dam, the late Supreme Champion *Verdrefawr Caris.

Thank you to Prue Richardson, Northwind Farm, Toronto, Canada, for entrusting us with Blue's care for the past two years. His legacy will live on through our Caris ponies for many years to come."
