Bandy's Welsh Mountain Poinies. Bend, Oregon

Our introduction to Welsh Ponies began as a search for a pony for our baby granddaughter. The ponies soon involved the whole family. Since we raised and had shown Morgan Horses for many years, we found there to be many similar characteristics in the two breeds. The ponies were easier to handle by the young and old alike. We bought our first two mares from long time Canadian breeder, Leona Frayling, and with Leona's help, purchased our first imported mares a few years later. This was the beginning of building the foundation of what we believe is some of the finest Welsh Mountain Pony bloodlines in the U.S.

We are proud to be the breeders of the first Welsh foals born in the U.S. that were conceived via artificial insemination. This was done by using imported frozen semen from the famous Multi-Champion, Trefaes Taran, owned by Dr. Wynne Davies, in the U.K. The two foals resulting from that adventure are Caris (IC) First Knight, a handsome palomino colt, out of Roblyn's Sheena, and Caris (IC) Love Story, a lovey grey filly, out of *Pontllys Tamsin. Knight has been sold to Galen and Janna Yoder of Canby, Oregon to become their future sire. Love Story has produced some lovely foals for us. She is the dam of Caris Likely Story, by *Bengad Lynden, who was sold to Kathi Lindholm in Wisconsin. Kathi showed Likely to win the title of WPCSA National Champion in 2004 and Reserve National Champion in 2005. Our breeding program is not a large-scale production. Our goal is to produce high-quality ponies, not necessarily the highest quantity.
